Sonogenetic Actuators for Remote Cellular Control
Publication Number: US 2024/0017097 A1
Status: Published Application
Inventors: Sreekanth Chalasani, et al.
Assignee: Salk Institute for Biological Studies
Technology Overview: This invention relates to methods and compositions for modulating the activity of a target cell using ultrasound. Specifically, it covers the use of sonogenetic actuators (such as TRP-4 and other mechanosensitive channels) to achieve cell-type specific activation in response to ultrasonic energy. This platform allows for the non-invasive control of neural circuits and other biological systems without the need for permanent implants.
